About Us

We, #FridaysForFuture Seattle, are a youth-operated movement demanding that our government act on the climate crisis. More specifically, we ask that our state and local governments enact their own Green New Deal resolutions, to confront potential climate catastrophe at every structural level. Inspired by Swedish political activist Greta Thunberg, we strike every Friday to demand action and make our voices heard.

Our Demands

#FridaysForFuture Seattle is in the process of drafting a local Green New Deal resolution to be presented to the City Council. Details will be released on our website soon, but until then our big three proposals include:

Free public transportation, to ensure that everyone has access to clean transportation;
Publicly-owned affordable housing, to ensure Seattle's most vulnerable residents aren't priced out of the city and forced to commute;
Divestment from Puget Sound Energy, a fossil-fuel loving utility company that currently provides for the Seattle region's energy.
